Isla Canela notches up 7 kilometres of wide, golden beach, running from the Guadiana River to Punta del Moral in the east. It’s just as popular with sunbathers as it is with kitesurfers and windsurfers. Running parallel to the first part of the beach is a prom where you can sit back in a bar or tuck in to some freshly caught seafood. The further east you head, the more secluded it gets, with only sand dunes and a lone ‘chiringuito’, or beach bars, for company. The pace of life is extremely slow on Isla Canela.
